WHAT IS A LOCAL LEAGUE GRIEVANCE?

A Greivance complaint should always be the last resort for league players.

  • A grievance is an official complaint submitted by a captain, co-captain, or local league coordinator and adjudicated by a WNC USTA Grievance Committee.
  • A grievance is a serious matter which may be avoided by arbitration. When interacting with mutual respect, USTA players (and captains) typically find solutions that are mutually acceptable to all parties and strengthen the league program.
  • Except for extreme situations or flagrant unsportsmanlike conduct, grievances should be the last resort when arbitration has been unable to resolve the matter.
  • When used otherwise, grievances may increase disagreements and resentment and harm the sportsmanship and participation of the league program.
  • Consideration should be fully given prior to filing a grievance.
  • Western NC USTA captains or co-captains should contact the Local League Coordinator to discuss the situation, and then, if needed, the grievance application forms will be forwarded to the captain for filing.

NOTE: NTRP Grievances contending that a self-rated player is playing at a lower NTRP level than his/her actual skill level are not handled by the Local League Coordinators.
